Marina group Yacht Havens Ltd have undertaken a major overhaul of their Wi-Fi infrastructure to bring fast fibre broadband to their marinas, increasing the speed and reliability of the complimentary Wi-Fi service provided to marina berth holders and visitors.
The Wi-Fi enhancements have been rolled out at Yacht Havens’ locations in Lymington, Plymouth, Neyland, Largs and Troon delivering speeds of up to 100Mbps to each site allowing for a significant improvement of internet speeds around the pontoons.
Yacht Havens’ IT Director Ben Fox explained how the upgrades were essential in order to meet the needs of modern day sailors: “Inevitably, we are seeing ever-increasing broadband requirements of today’s boat owners, both in download speed and reliability.”
Ben continues, “Whilst our marinas and dry stacks benefit from being in some of the most stunning locations, they are not all connected to the national fibre network. We have therefore invested in our own advanced Wi-Fi infrastructure to deliver fibre broadband to our sites in order to improve the customer experience across our complimentary berth holder and visitor Wi-Fi networks.”
Yacht Havens Ltd were the first UK marina group to begin offering free customer Wi-Fi back in 2008. Today, Yacht Havens' upgraded Wi-Fi service makes connecting to the Internet an easier, more seamless experience. Berth holders and marina visitors continue to have access to free Wi-Fi at all nine of Yacht Havens’ award-winning marinas around the UK and the Netherlands, and now enjoy a faster, safer and more reliable service.
