The recovery of a stolen vessel in the Bahamas was made possible with the help of GOST’s NAV-TRACKER System, the marine security, tracking, monitoring and video surveillance systems company, GOST (Global Ocean Security Technologies), announced today.
On Saturday June 20, 2015, a homeowner in the Hopetown area of the Abacos, contacted Marsh Harbor Police and reported that his white 34-foot Jupiter power boat was missing. Accessing the vessel’s GOST NAV-TRACKER 1.0 tracking system through his secure web account, the owner pinpointed the exact location of the stolen vessel, tracked the vessel’s course and provided the information to the police. From the position reports received from the unit every 5 minutes, the Marsh Harbor Police Department was able to successfully recover the vessel with minimal damage within three hours of the first recognition of the theft. They also captured three of the thieves who were still on board and the suspects were handed over to Central Detective Unit at Marsh Harbor Police Station where they were charged for stealing and receiving. A fourth suspect was arrested on Monday, and all four were remanded until their trial date.

The GOST NAV-TRACKER was originally created at the request of insurance companies as a low-cost GPS tracking system for their customers. The system sends multiple daily position reports at intervals selected by the user. Owners can login at anytime for a current, precise location of their vessel.
