Thursby Software Systems, provider of two-factor authenticated browsing and email on mobile devices, announced integration with Route1, a technology solutions innovator dedicated to delivering secure data protection technologies and mobility solutions for government, industrial and the enterprise sector.

The days of carrying around a laptop to do work while traveling are over. Mobile devices are now able to access emails and crucial websites, which is typically enough to satisfy the needs of even frequent travelers. There are times, however, where access to the local desktop is critical. By partnering together, Thursby Software Systems, Inc. and Route1’s MobiKEY are able to provide both of these options, on any mobile device, with the highest levels of security and encryption.

“We think this new partnership will provide our customers with greater use of their mobile devices through access to documents on their computer,” said Kenneth Bobu, VP of Sales and Marketing. “Our desire has always been to give customers the ability to replace their laptop with a mobile device, and this collaboration with the MobiKEY app goes a long way in accomplishing that.”

MobiKEY has been described as the un-VPN. A secure remote access solution that delivers your trusted desktop through the cloud, MobiKEY allows users to log-in to their local desktop from any device, anywhere, any time. All files stay within the network and no inbound ports open, so MobiKEY is malware resistant and immune to zero-day threats. This bring your own device (BYOD) friendly solution gives the user the same windows experience they are accustomed to at their desk from any mobile device.

Thursby Software’s Sub Rosa app comes bundled with every PKard Reader sold. With this bundle, users are able to use Department of Defense (DoD) issued Common Access Cards (CAC), federally issued Personal Identification Verification (PIV) cards, and commercially issued PIV-I cards to access two-factor websites, such as DTS, and sign, encrypt, and decrypt email (S/MIME) on any Apple or Android mobile device. These capabilities have allowed tens of thousands of DoD and federal employees, including the entire Navy Reserve, to use personal and government furnished (GFE) mobile devices to access needed information on the go.

Route1 has a Full Authority to Operate (ATO) from the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of the Navy, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the U.S. Marine Corps and other government and enterprise security teams. Their partnership with Thursby Software Systems allows any of the over 100,000 mobile users with a PKard Reader to utilize the reader and their smartcard, add a MobiKEY license, and log-in to their desktop from a mobile device. This allows customers to utilize a single smart card reader for all of their mobile computing needs, which in-turn will allow enterprises to cut back on expenses and hardware.

“MobiKEY is built with security as its first priority. We are excited to extend our secure remote access solution option to additional DoD, military and even enterprise employees,” said Tony Busseri, CEO of Route1. “For the current users of the PKard reader, adding the MobiKEY application greatly augments the functionality of their mobile device: secure remote access and maximum efficiency.”
